Picture Days
April 16, 17, 18, 2009
On Picture Day, Studio D will be used as an additional dressing room. Photographs will be taken by Dream Photography in Studio B. Studios A and C will be used to rehearse concert pieces after each group is photographed. Please remember our SHOES OFF rule applies to everyone as does the food and drink in the study room only rule. Parents and siblings will not be permitted in Studio B for the photo shoot, but are welcome as audience in Studios A and C; applause is greatly appreciated.
You are an important part of your class and an important part of the Allegro School of Dance. These class portraits are very special, as they are the remembrance of the entire dance year. If you are unable to attend Picture Day, please inform your teacher. On Picture Day each dancer needs to be dressed in full costume, with hair pulled back in a bun, no side or center part, NO BANGS, and light make-up. See Hair & Makeup & Shoes for specific details. Please be early as we run on an exact schedule.

Shoes-Be sure to wear the appropriate shoes for each costume. Check the costume guidelines in the costume book located on the table in the lobby of the studio and/or check with your child’s teacher(s).
Makeup – Use a base, blush, eye shadow (BLUE), mascara and RED lipstick. No glittery makeup allowed. Don’t be afraid of over doing the makeup. Stage lights and the distance of the audience fade facial features. Please remember that photo makeup should be considerably lighter than recital makeup. At the recital, makeup needs to be heavier to compensate for the stage lighting.
Hair - All ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, and creative dancers must have buns, high and center, in the back on the head, unless the headpiece dictates otherwise. Hair should be pulled straight back, NO side or center parts. If the dancer’s hair is too short, you must give an illusion and lift of a bun by using gel or mousse. Bangs must be pulled straight back, off the forehead. To know where the hair piece should be placed, please consult the costume book on the table in the lobby, inquire in the office, or ask the teacher.
Buns – As a fundraiser for their competitions/conventions, Company students will provide buns and makeup services on Picture Days, Dress Rehearsals, and Recitals. This can be very helpful for busy or first-recital parents. Please call the office 288-0125 or stop in when you are in the studio to sign up for an assigned time.
