Policies & Procedures
Registration: . A nonrefundable fee of $20 per student will be required at time of registration. There is a maximum of $50 registration fees per family.
**You cannot register by mail, but to expediate the process you can fill out the registration form in advance of stopping into the office to register.
Payment of Fees: Tuition is due monthly. Tuition must be paid by an automatic bank account debit or an automatic credit card payment.
Payment by Automatic Bank Account Debit or Automatic Credit Card Charge
Tuition will be debited from your bank account or charged to your credit card on the 1st of each month from September through May. The month of September is nonrefundable. You must sign an auto-debit form and provide a voided check, or sign an automatic credit card charge authorization form. Credit card or bank debit payments are accepted for in-person payment of tuition. Payment of tuition must be made by preauthorized automatic monthly payment. Regular monthly fees are paid by auto-debit or credit card. Tuition paid by a credit card is assessed a transaction fee proportionate to the amount withdrawn. Incidental fees such as recital tickets or clothing may be paid by cash, check or credit card.
*Dance costume fees are withdrawn November 15th.
Withdrawal and Refunds: A minimum one month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue lessons. (i.e. Oct 1 for Nov 1 withdrawal or Sept 20 for Nov 1 withdrawal) Withdrawal must be done in person, not over the phone. Withdrawal must be done at the Allegro office, not with the teachers. No withdrawal will be accepted after April 1. To withdraw, a parent or adult student must:
- Inform Allegro office in person
- Complete and sign a withdrawal form provided by the Allegro office.
All automatic debiting or credit card charges will stop after the one-month notice period.
Music:
- Attendance: Music lessons are paid for in advance, no refunds or credits are given for lessons missed. Please understand that the teacher’s time is valuable and that the space is tightly scheduled. If lessons are chronically missed, your participation will be evaluated.
- Make-up Lessons: Two make-up lessons per year will be allowed and scheduled through the office. If extenuating circumstances occursuch as injury or prolonged illness, Allegro will take this into account. Regardless of your lesson type, all students will benifit from exposure to different styles, rythms, techniques, and a touch of music theory. The teamwork and connection to other musically inclined students broadens the base of education for all learners. If a music student has no absences, they are able to attend the make up class free of charge, as a bonus. *Make up classes: January 24th 2009 and Saturday 25th 2009
- Music Books: Books will be requested as the student progresses. Books can be purchased at Schmitt, Hamilton or Petit Music.
- Student’s Responsibility to Practice: Practice must occur outside of the lesson to improve and progress in any music style. Each teacher will specify outside practice requirements. If practice does not occur, your participation will be evaluated.
- Performance: Twice yearly performance opportunities will be offered
Dance:
- *Costume fees: Costume fees for the Spring Dance Concert will be charged to your auto-debit or automatic credit card on December 1. No costume fees will be refunded after December 1 even if a student withdraws from school. If you do not want to participate in the Spring Dance Concert, please inform the office by Nov 15th.
- Performance: Students will be offered the opportunity to participate in the Spring Dance Concert.
- Attendance & Tardiness: The school reserves the right to have students who come more than 15 minutes late to class, to sit out the class. A minimum attendance level of 80% is required. Illness and family emergency will be taken into account. Students who miss more than four classes in March, April, and May might be terminated from the Spring Dance Concert at the teacher’s discretion.
- Make-up Lessons: Students are encouraged to makeup any lessons missed by attending a class at the same level.

Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: The school provides a yearly calendar giving dates of all school activities, such as observation days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post advanced notices on the bulletin board, may email or send notices home with the students, and put such information on the web site. It is the parents’ responsibility to regularly check these sources to ensure they are informed. Please inform the office of any changes in address, account, phone number or email.
Care of Students: The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are highly advised to remain in the waiting room during classes. Students of any age are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class. Students and parents are responsible for their own personal items.
Injuries: Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adults waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity during class time as well as student’s actions before, during, or after class time, or at any performance at Allegro or elsewhere.
Photo Release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
